Harrogate Borough Council's new administration has announced key moves in the battle against anti-social behaviour and disorder.
The council's Conservative leader, Councillor Mike Gardner has announced a range of initiatives to help tackle the growing problem throughout the district.
A key role will be the appointment of a closed-circuit television and community safety manager.
The manager, whose post will be paid for out of efficiency savings will help the council work more effectively with the police and community support officers.
The council operates 100 closed-circuit cameras in Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge.
Coun Gardner said the appointment would help the council make better use of information provided by cameras at key locations.
"We have a duty to be at the forefront of helping police tackle anti-social behaviour and an appointment to this key post wil help us to co-ordinate our activities better," he said.
