A PLAN to build two houses on land formerly used as a coach depot in Sowerby, Thirsk, has been blocked.
Hambleton development control committee considered a plan to build two detached houses and garages in an amended plan.
But although several councillors thought the plan was acceptable, ward member Councillor Mark Robson did not agree.
Sowerby Parish Council had no objections to the amended plan, but Coun Robson said: "The design of these houses is not in character with the area and I would like to see just one dwelling built here."
The committee went against planning officers and refused the application.
