VOLUNTEERS are needed to help a charity for blind and partially sighted people.
This month is Blind Awareness Month and the County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted is looking for people to help with the charity's home visiting service, driver/escort service and with fundraising.
The charity's recently recruited volunteer co-ordinator, Sue Hayles said: "It is hard for people to image everyday life without good vision.
"Volunteers provide a valuable service in acknowledgement of this.
"Training is provided and all out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed.
"We would like to hear from anyone who can offer one or two hours a week to help us continue to provide a service. We also require volunteers to assist in our fundraising ventures by arranging a coffee morning, selling raffle tickets or finding a local pub or shop to take a collecting box for us."
Ms Hayles can be contacted at the County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted, 27 North Road, Durham or by calling 0191-386 8175.
