Stockton Borough Council bosses yesterday met representatives of Thornfield Properties to talk about the redevelopment of Thornaby town centre.
During the meeting the company set out its vision for the future of Thornaby. There will be public consultation of residents and businesses in the summer, after which the company will draw up final plans for the scheme.
HOSPICE HELP: The founder of Butterwick Hospice was handed a £400 cheque from staff at Asda's Billingham store yesterday. Staff each brought in tins and bottles of wine to create a massive food hamper that was then raffled to raise £270. The Asda Foundation then donated a further £130 for the staff's hard work. Mary Butterwick was in store to thank them for their efforts.
BLUES DUO: The Clarksdale Brothers will play at The Tapas Bar, Norton, near Stockton at 8.30pm on Sunday. Duo Phil Smith and Mick Hepple play old school folk and blues with double bass. Mick Hepple - recently signed by the Acid Jazz record label - is a former member of North-East group The Spider Men.
PHONE CALL: A Teesside hospice is asking people to donate any old mobile phones for recycling. Anyone wishing to donate phones can drop them off at Hartlepool and District Hospice's reception in Hutton Avenue, Hartlepool, or at any of the hospice's shops.
SPICE IT UP: A five-week course including salsa, belly dancing, relaxation and massage will be held every Monday from June 16 to July 14 at the adult education centre in Corporation Road, Redcar. The fee is £12 and classes are suitable for all ages. More information is available on (01642) 444385.
SPACE FOR RENT: A Thornaby arts company is on the lookout for potential studio space to rent out to arts organisations. Platform Arts, based in Mandale Road, is looking to provide low cost studio space for local artists. FAIR DAY: A summer fair will be held at Ings Farm Primary School, in Stirling Road, Redcar, next Saturday, from 10am to 2pm.
