PROUD teachers told how young musicians rose to the challenge and excelled themselves in a brass masterclass.
More than 55 children, aged seven to 16, gathered at Conset Junior School, for tuition from members of the world-famous Black Dyke Mills Band. The youngsters showed off their newly acquired skills with a concert for the whole school at the end of the day, before going off to perform at the town's Empire Theatre on Friday night.
Music teacher David Jackson said: "To hear the best players in the world in our school is fantastic, and the youngsters responded to them - they played better than they have ever played before.
"This is the sort of event that helped the school win its Artsmark Gold Award. It has been a really special day."
