HIGH profile patrols are targeting people who dump rubbish in the back streets across the borough of Stockton.
The 24-hour patrols are checking the borough's back streets to combat the problem of rubbish dumping. This includes bin bags and wheeled bins being put out on non-collection days.
There are also problems with people putting out bulky items such as timber, fridges or furniture instead of contacting the Care For Your Area special bulky items collection service.
Anyone found dumping rubbish in the back streets could face a £50 instant fine or, if they are convicted at court, the fine could rise up to £2,500.
Last week, a £50 instant fine was handed out to one resident after black bin bags were dumped in a back alley, and last month two residents were given cautions.
The wardens will be patrolling day or night.
The telephone number to report offenders is (01642) 415598.
The Care for Your Area team can be contacted on (01642) 391959 to arrange removal of waste and bulky items.
