HUNDREDS of visitors took a trip back in time as a former prisoner of war camp recreated the 1940s.
About 100 military vehicles from the Second World War formed the centrepiece of the show at Harperley Prisoner of War Camp, in Weardale, County Durham.
It was a fitting setting for a weekend of nostalgia, which included a midsummer dance.
Camp 93 was built in 1943 to house prisoners from Italy and Germany, and is being restored by owners James and Lisa McCleod, who want to re-open it as a museum.
Mrs McCleod said: "It has been far better than we expected. Vehicles have come from all over the country and we are looking at putting it on again next year.''
More than 400 people in period costume attended the dance.
Mrs McCleod said: "We are going to have to have a bigger marquee next year because there are so many people who want to come along. It has been really popular.
Other attractions included battle re-enactments from the Second World War, a display of vintage cars and tractors, and displays of uniforms and armour.
It is believed a former prisoner of war guard attended the event and Mrs McCleod said she would like him to get in touch.
She said: "We have had a few people who were prisoners here come along and I have spoken to them. Unfortunately, I did not get to talk to the former guard.''
Anyone with information about the camp is asked to contact Mrs McCleod on 0773 4419196.
