Liam McRoy from Spennymoor scored four goals in the Russell Foster League Cup Final for Bishop Auckland College's Under-15s.
Bishop, who are in the First Division, were underdogs in every round, coming up against and beating Premiership opposition and in the final it was South Tyneside's turn, who could yet finish third in the Premiership, to taste defeat at the hands of Bishop.
McRoy scored Bishops' opener and this lead stood until half-time.
During the interval both sets of supporters were confident their team could win the final which was an evening kick-off at the Nissan Sports & Social Club Ground, Washington.
Tyneside, who had the advantage of the wind in the second period, got a 48th minute leveller and looked red-hot favourites to go on and win after scoring a second to lead 2-1 with only ten minutes remaining.
But Bishop weathered the storm and brought it back level again through McRoy.
Extra-time followed and Bishops' Warren Robinson, also from Spennymoor, was brought down to earn a penalty which McRoy converted to pit his side in front. McRoy went on to score a fourth, a back post header from a corner and this put the game beyond South Tyneside's reach.
Bishop Auckland College's Under-15s assistant, Stephen Yorke, said: "We really deserved this, although South Tyneside played well we were stronger overall and beating teams from the Premiership in most rounds shows how well we have played to reach the final.
"Now we are winners I am delighted for all the lads and their parents and supporters who do so much to help out and make it all possible."
