WALKERS are being urged to take part in a fundraising event at a wildfowl park.
This year's Yellow Brick Road sponsored walk, in aid of The Children's Foundation, will take place at the Washington Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre, in Washington, Tyne and Wear, on Sunday, June 22.
A range of routes are on offer, from an 800m toddle and a 2.5km stroll to the 8km riverside route or the 12km challenge, which ends at Penshaw Monument, near Sunderland.
Margaret Robinson, head of funding development at The Children's Foundation, said: "We are appealing to all local people to help us reach our target of raising £15,000 from the walk this year."
After the event, walkers will be served refreshments and offered entertainment.
To register for the walk, ring 0191-202 3006, visit www.thechildrensfoundation.co.uk or write to: The Children's Foundation, PO Box 2YB, Queen Victoria Road, Newcastle NE99 2YB.
