Federation Special Durham Senior League Under-18s: Chester-le-Street and Durham City were involved in a high scoring game which City won by just three runs at Ropery Lane.
Batting first Durham posted 117 for six thanks mainly to the efforts of Tim Ellis who carried his bat for 52. Stephen McTaggart had a good night with the ball for the Cestrians returning three for 29 and when they replied the home side went close finishing with 114 for five on the board. Their principal run makers were John Coxon with 34, James Bates (29) while in the Durham City attack non did better than Dias with four for 16. Paul Davidson ended undefeated on 22 as South Hetton overtook the Horden total of 42 all out without conceding a wicket and at Burnmoor, Eppleton had 23 runs to spare. When they made first use of the wicket, Eppleton realised 78 all our with David Lowther top scoring with 28. Alex Ludlow took four for 28, Scott Robertson two for 16 and Michael Hall two for 32 for Burnmoor who replied with 55 for five as Hughes claimed two of the wickets for just seven runs.
At Boldon, Felling went down by eight wickets. Man of the match was Boldon's Richard Potter who ended undefeated on 35 out of his team's total of 72 for two.
The Felling innings ended on 71 for four and included 24 by Gorge and 23 not out from Boe. Chris Fiddell took two of the wickets for 17 runs and Richard Potter picked up the other two at a cost of 25 runs.
Gateshead Fell defeated Sunderland by eight wickets at Ashbrook and Whitburn had 40 runs in hand of Philadelphia. Batting first Whitburn ended with 113 for eight on the board which included 44 by Johnny Unwin while for Phili, Brian Telfer returned the creditable figures of three for 27. When Ross Carty took four for 13, Philadelphia were pegged to 73 for six.South Shields made the biggest score of the night 130 for the loss of seven wickets mainly due to Hetton Lyons to only 47 for seven. Siakat Sarkar made a fine 41 and Greg Fiddell contributed 40 for the home side and in the Lyon's attack Paul Riddle returned three for 24. Hetton Lyons ended with fewer than 50 runs on top.
Teesside Valve and Fitting Shield semi-finals
Esh Winning will play Ushaw Moor in the final which is to be staged at Sedgefield on Sunday, June 29.
Esh posted 19 for seven from their 20 overs and in an exciting finish had just 11 runs to spare over their visitors.
Stuart Hall led the way in the Esh Winning innings striking seven boundaries in 44 and Jonathan Rochford carried his bat for a valuable 20 runs.
Thompson took three for 19 and Boardman had two for 19 in the visiting attack.
When Sedgefield replied they found Andrew Wilson in splendid form with the ball for Esh Winning and his five overs which included two maidens earned him the excellent figures of six for 13. David Thornton took two for 25 from the fiver overs he sent down.
Runs were less plentiful at Ushaw Moor who had four wickets to spare against Evenwood even though the visitors were bowled out for only 41. Joe Kerry was the match winner with the ball for Ushaw Moor taking five for six runs in 3.4 overs. But the home side did not have things all their own way and they were indebted to Peter Guy when they replied.
Guy hit a couple of sixes and one boundary and scored no fewer than 30 not out in his side's total of 43 for six. Alderson had good night with the ball for Evenwood and in five overs, including two maidens he picked up three wickets for a meagre five runs.
Durham Coast League Under-13s
Silksworth met Dawdon and had 38 runs to spare after totalling almost 100 when they batted first.
The Wearsiders ended on 95 for six from their 20 overs and Craig Richie was the top scorer with 19 while for Dawdon no bowler did better than Scurr who returned the outstanding figures of four for ten.
In response, Dawdon made only 57 for eight and Swainston added 21 runs. Michael Charlton took two for six and Ethan Holland had two for one in the Silksworth attack.
Fred Foster Under-15 Cup
Bill Quay had 15 runs in hand of Murton when the sides met in the Durham Coast League Fred Foster Under-15 Cup.
When they made first use of the wicket, Bill Quay posted 65 for five with McNamee claiming four of the five wickets to fall for just 12 runs.
Responding, Murton were pegged to 50 for nine as four Bill Quay bowlers all took a couple of wickets.
Dodds conceded only two runs, Drury had three runs against him while Milligan returned two for seven and Gilmore two for eight.
