FORMER residents of a colliery village which was destroyed by floods in the late 1960s are being invited to a reunion.
The Whitworth Heritage Group, which meets at Whitworth Parish Church, on the outskirts of Spennymoor, is holding the reunion as part of an open weekend taking place next month.
The group hopes to reunite former neighbours from the Page Bank settlement on Saturday July 5, from 3pm, in a marquee in Whitworth Hall Country Park's walled garden.
There will be a display of the area's heritage, so anyone who has old photographs, newspaper cuttings or other items of local interest are asked to take them along.
A heritage trail created by the group, which has an accompanying colour booklet guiding walkers around the church and the gardens and deer park of Bobbie Shafto's ancestral home, will also be launched during the weekend.
Activities on Sunday July 5, run from noon to 5pm.
