A PERVERT who pointed a camera up a woman's skirt in a town centre shop may have struck again.
Last night, police said a man was seen acting suspiciously with what looked like a new-style mobile phone which can be used to take pictures.
A witness said she saw him hold the device under the skirt of another shopper, a 37-year-old local woman, in Boyes store, Blackwellgate, Darlington, at about midday yesterday.
Police are keen to talk to the witness, who left the shop without giving her details.
The incident comes less than four weeks after a 28-year-old woman was looking at a magazine in WH Smith in the Cornmill Centre when she realised a man was taking pictures up her skirt. Police also said there had been reports of an identical incident in March.
Sergeant Ian Sturrock, of Darlington police, said: "It is unusual but this is the not the first time it has happened. There is nothing to suggest they are linked but we cannot rule that out at the moment.
"We need to trace the woman who witnessed the incident. She told the victim a man had been kneeling down beside her and using some kind of electrical device to try to look under her skirt."
He also said it was possible that the man might have been with other people.
The only description the police have of the man is that he is white and was wearing a green T-shirt and jeans, and had a wedding ring on.
Anyone who can help the police, particularly the witness or anyone who has encountered a similar situation, is asked to call Sgt Sturrock on (01325) 467681.
