A MOTHER was killed when her car rolled over her as she emptied shopping from the boot.
Lynne Brown, 58, had been to a local store and parked her Volvo V40 estate on the drive at her house.
She got out and went round to the boot, but as she opened it, the car began to roll backwards.
Mrs Brown was pushed from her drive into Dene Road, Rowlands Gill, Tyne and Wear.
She was trapped underneath the car and died a short time after the accident, which happened at about 10am yesterday.
A Northumbria police spokesman said: "We are investigating the incident. It appears to have been a tragic accident."
Mrs Brown had two grown-up children and was married to Derek, a self-employed builder.
