A FOUR-WHEELED star of the big screen is in need of a new home.
The search is on for a motor fanatic who will lovingly restore a van which appeared in the film Billy Elliot, starring Julie Andrews and Jamie Bell.
The 1981 Ford 4x4 County Transit appeared in the background of several scenes in the blockbuster, but its owner of 18 years, Colin Woodward, is appealing for someone to take it off his hands.
Mr Woodward has been ordered to remove several unused vehicles from his property in Quarry Burn Lane, Hunwick, County Durham, by Wear Valley District Council.
The 47-year-old builder, vocalist and actor was an extra in Billy Elliot in a pub scene, and was seen driving the van in Easington and Newcastle.
He said: "I know I have to tidy up the area, but I could not bear to see the Transit scrapped.
"It starts up perfectly every time, but needs some body restoration, which I do not have time to do myself, which is why I want to see the van go to someone who will spend the time on it.
"I think a film company or collector could make good use of it.
"The last time I used it was for the film in 2000, but it has seen some interesting times aside from that. I used it for a mobile disco for years. On one occasion I chatted with actor Michael Elphick in it when I compered a disco for him."
Anyone interested in buying the vehicle is asked to call Mr Woodward on 0771 116 6953.
