TRIBUTES have been paid to a highly respected Darlington newsagent, who has died, aged 76.
Ronald Gent, who had run his business in Geneva Road since 1967, died on June 4.
He had been president of the Darlington branch of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents since 1990.
He was honoured by the North-East and Cumbria district branch of the organisation three years ago for his long service and support for local traders.
Darlington newsagent John Abbott said: "He did so much for newsagents in the town and for anyone who ever asked for his help."
Mr Gent was a widower. He leaves a son Paul. He and his late wife, Jean had another daughter, Patricia, who died.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 18, at 12.15pm, at St Teresa's Church, Darlington.
