Shildon R and AC: Warren Roberts continued his medal haul at Liverpool on Sunday, May 25 following his double silver at the North-East championships at Shildon in May.
Warren, competing in the U15 boys 1500m in the North of England Track and Field championships at Wavertree, Liverpool, was narrowly beaten for the gold medal when he finished second in a personal best time of 4:27.03, the winner was Jacob Corrigan (Stockport AC) in 4:26.49.
Chris Stoppard won through the heats of the U17 boys 200m to reach the semi-final where he finished sixth in 23.96.
On the same day at the Raby Castle 10k Paul Best had an excellent run to finish in fourth place in a time of 35.25.

The following Sunday, June 1 the Shildon club hosted the second fixture of the Youth Athletes League at the Stadium 2000. The club finished in third place in the Northern 2 North-East with 266 points.

Crook and District
A busy time in the athletics season saw club members performing in varied events.
Gerry Hehir ran a crediable 95 mins for the Bowderdale 11 mile fell race in Cumbria and Mike Mallen finished 14th in the Hellvellyn Mountain race over 11 miles after lying fifth up to the last 400 metres when a bad fall on a vertical descent slowed him considerably.
At the Pier to Pier 7 mile race starting at South Shields Malcolm Ingram finished third Over-45 and John Dennis third Over-50.
John Dennis also performed well at Raby Castle 10km where he was first Over-50 in a time of 38.38, John Nunn was just ahead in 37.52.
In the 5km fun run David Orr ran extremely well to finish 36th out of 142 in a time of 27.31.
At Hamsterley Forest Butterwick Hospice 10km. Malcolm Ingram was second in a time of 37.40, Mike Mallen fourth in 38.20, John Dennis fifth in 38.50 and Geoff Hewitson seventh. David Orr ran the fun race in a great time of 10.13 to finish 13th.
At the veterans track and field league at Monkton Stadium there were many fine performances especially Kevin Archer's 2.08 in the 800m as he prepares for the World Vets in Puerto Rico in July.
Other results: Mike Mallen 10.07 for 3000m, 28.20 for 200m; Karen Partridge 34.2 for 200m; Geoff Hewitson first in the high jump 1m.50cm and 9m.17cm for triple jump; Ian Bainbridge 2.49 for 800m and 34.3 for 200m; Colin Everson 2.47 for 800m and 11m.53secs for 3000m.
