A MAJOR project to refurbish the area outside one of North Yorkshire's shopping precincts has been completed.
Costing £150,000, the scheme, at Colburn, near Richmond, has been a joint effort between Richmondshire District councillors and officers, Colburn Town Council and the town's retailers.
The pedestrian area on the Broadway has been repaved and the car park resurfaced and enlarged.
A dozen more parking spaces have also been created, while specific areas of the car park have been designated as disabled parking and parent and toddler parking.
Benches and planters stocked with flowers have been installed and provision has also been made for a place to put up a lit Christmas tree during the festive season.
Mayor of Colburn Peter Wood said he was delighted with the work and even more delighted with the finished results.
He said: "I have been getting very positive feedback from residents and traders and I think it looks wonderful. The work has made the Broadway a fitting centrepiece for this growing town."
