BRITISH Airways has signed up Australian pop star Kylie Minogue to launch its latest travel brochure.
The airline will be hoping the publicity coup will bolster its bottom line at a time when budget flyers continue to dominate the market.
The global spread of the Sars virus and the conflict in Iraq also made the past 12 months a turbulent time for the company.
BA turned London's Covent Garden into a makeshift beach for a photocall to announce their new working relationship with the diminutive songstress.
Kylie said: "I have travelled all over the world and British Airways has always been one of my favourite airlines.
"Bringing a tropical beach to central London is a fantastic way to get everybody in the mood for summer - feel the sand between your toes - it is like bringing a bit of Australia to London."
Jayne O'Brien, British Airways head of UK and Ireland marketing, said: "It is great that Kylie was one of the first visitors to the British Airways beach."
The Tropical Beaches brochure features inclusive holidays to 14 tropical destinations including Mauritius, Bermuda and Barbados.
