TWO women arrested after the hit-and-run death of a mother-of-12 have been released by police.
Cleveland Police said a 22-year-old has been given bail and a 20-year-old has been freed without further action.
The women were arrested on Monday following the death of widow Betty Cooper, 86, who was struck by a car as she got into a taxi in Thornaby, Teesside.
Mrs Cooper's son, Barry, 55, and his wife, Trisha, 52, were also hit by the car in Westbury Street shortly after 1am on Sunday as they left a party to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
All three suffered leg and pelvic injuries and were taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton, where the pensioner later died.
Mr Cooper is still in North Tees and his wife is being treated at Middlesbrough General Hospital. Both are said to be comfortable.
Police believe the car, which failed to stop after the accident, was a green BMW convertible, which has still not been traced.
Anyone who can help is asked to call the incident room, on (01642) 302234.
