TRIBUTES have been paid to a Darlington newsagent, who has died at the age of 76.
Ronald Gent, who ran a business in Geneva Road since 1967, died last Wednesday.
He had been president of the Darlington branch of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents since 1990.
He was honoured by the North-East and Cumbria district branch of the organisation three years ago, for his long service and support for local traders.
Fellow Darlington newsagent John Abbott said: "Mr Gent did so much for newsagents in the town and for anyone who ever asked for his help."
Mr Gent was married to the late Jean and had two children, Paul and the late Patricia.
Mr Gent's funeral will take place next Wednesday 12.15pm at St Teresa's Church, Darlington.
