POLICEMEN have joined forces with volunteers to raise money for a local hospice.
Organised by Stockton's Butterwick Hospice, the Tea at Three campaign asks for donations for tea breaks at work or from people having tea parties.
Inspector Eric Robinson, of Stockton police, said he was only too happy to volunteer. He said: "We all know that policemen never turn down a cup of tea.
"We are delighted to help Butterwick Hospice raise some money and we intend to rope as many people as possible into the tea-related fundraising events.
"We are hoping to get some senior officers involved in the campaign. The chief constable himself might even lend his support by coming down to Stockton."
The hospice is calling on people to join in the event, which takes place on Friday, June 20.
Hospice staff have also received support from firefighters at Stockton fire station and local police officers.
The hospice is holding a tea party at Stockton Town Hall, from 1pm to 4pm, and numerous cafs will be holding similar events.
Anyone wanting to get involved is asked to call Sarah Eldon at the hospice on (01642) 624231.
