POLICE celebrating a four-year jail sentence handed to a heroin dealer say their Dealer a Day campaign should take the credit.
Mark Duffy, 24, was this week jailed at Teesside Crown Court after pleading guilty to possessing 100 wraps of heroin, with a street value of £1,550, with intent to supply.
The haul, which also included cannabis resin worth £600, black market methadone, several knives, an imitation firearm and martial arts weapons, was discovered following information from beat officers.
Cleveland Police's Dealer a Day campaign encourages beat bobbies to take action against drug-pushers.
The illegal weapons found at Duffy's house, in Staindrop Drive, Acklam, Middlesbrough, will now be destroyed.
Inspector Gary Gamesby, head of operational support at Cleveland police, said: "This was a particularly successful result for our Dealer a Day campaign.
"Not only have the streets of Teesside been cleared of class A and B drugs, but potentially lethal weapons have also been taken out of circulation.
"That particular raid came about because of the excellent teamwork between local beat officers and our drugs unit.
"The sentence issued on Monday should serve as a stern warning to other dealers that we will continue our crackdown and act on any intelligence we receive, whether from community police officers or from the public."
