MORE than 300 musicians will converge on Durham for an annual folk event.
The Durham Folkworks gathering will be held at the city's Gala Theatre, from July 31 to August 2.
Over the three days, there will be five concerts, open air music and other folk-related activities.
The concert line-up includes top musicians, many of whom feature as solo artists, and others who form part of ensembles brought together for the festival.
The programme begins with a concert entitled A Feast of Fiddles, on Thursday, July 31.
Friday opens at 4.30pm with Freshly Squeezed, featuring many varieties of folk music performed by some of the world's leading players, and at 7.30pm, the Folkworks Summer Schools Showcase takes place as the culmination of week-long summer schools.
From 11am to 1pm on Saturday, there will be a free Music in the Market Place event, followed by a folk picnic in the grounds of the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery, from 2pm to 4.30pm.
The evening's entertainment begins with the Northumbrian Concert, from 5.30pm, followed by Celtic Night: Scots Meet the Irish.
