A NEWTON Aycliffe school has received a glowing report from inspectors.
The Office for Standards in Education report for St Francis CE Junior School describes it as "a good school which provides a high standard of care for pupils".
The report says: "Teaching is good and as a result pupils have developed very good attitudes to learning and make good progress."
Inspectors acknowledge that standards at the school have risen and say children achieve significantly better results in national tests than pupils in similar schools.
The report says: "The headteacher leads and manages the school very well and the acting deputy, staff and governors give good support."
Headteacher Sandra Whitton said: "The report reflects the hard work and commitment of the whole school team here at St Francis. We all work very well together to provide the best education and environment we can for the children in our care."
