FERRYHILL Comprehensive School is to join others across the country in thinking about the moral courage of individuals and society.
Today is Anne Frank Day, commemorating what would have been the 74th birthday of the teenage wartime diarist.
Her diary, found after her arrest and published after she died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, went on to inspire generations of people to strive for a better world.
Ferryhill Comprehensive School will participate in an assembly about moral courage, which has been created by the Anne Frank Trust UK.
It is part of a national programme of teaching about moral courage, which will result in young people nominating those whose acts they feel should be recognised with an Anne Frank Award.
Ferryhill teacher Mike Simpson said: "We are taking part in this national event because our school believes that it is part of our role to encourage and promote positive values in our students."
For details about the awards call the trust on 0208-340 9077. or visit the website at www.annefrank.org.uk.
