THE Middlesbrough Motor Club ran a centre trial at Centre Farm, Battersby, last Saturday evening, when 68 riders attempted four laps of a ten-section course.

The adult class was won by Richard Jeal, riding a Beta, with a loss of just two marks, beating John Fraser (Sherco) by a single mark. Fraser lost all three of his final marks at the seventh section, a zig zag climb up an adverse cambered bank side.

Ashley Brown, also on a Sherco, lost six of his final score of seven here, while eventual winner Jeal parted with one of his marks in the rocky section nine.

The club are putting on another Saturday evening adult and youth trial at the same venue on July 26.

The Durham County Trials Club had an excellent entry of 90 riders for their centre trial at Harrow Bank Quarry, near Stanhope in Weardale, on Sunday.

After heavy overnight rain, the weather stayed fine for the event, which included lots of rocky climbs which became very slippery as riders completed their four laps.

John Crinson (Gas Gas) and Paul Nicholson (Gas Gas) finally finished just seven marks apart. This was a well supported event and there was plenty of competition at all levels.
