CHILDREN and teachers at a Darlington school enjoyed a living history lesson yesterday.
Whinfield Primary School in Darlington held a Victorian day to bring the era to life for the pupils.
The children were invited to swap their school uniforms for costumes from the period while teachers also joined in the fun - part of a project focusing on the Victorian way of life.
Bob Harbron - a local expert in Victorian culture, food, dress and manners - visited the school to share his knowledge with the children.
Dressed in a traditional costume, he spoke to the pupils about life in Victorian times.
A spokesman for the school said: "It was a great day. The children have to study the Victorians for the National Curriculum. Letting them dress up and meeting Mr Harbron really made the history come alive for them."
