A MANAGER has been appointed to spearhead the regeneration of the economies of Malton and Norton.

John Phillips takes over the job having worked on both sides of the Atlantic in marketing, trade research and administration. He said the horse-racing and farming industries offer particular potential, as do Malton's rail links. He said: "The communication links are a vital asset to build on, because they can lead to greater opportunities." Mr Phillips has been involved in international relations and economic development in Britain, Europe and the US, where he lived for 15 years.
