A TEAM from Cleveland Police finished fourth in the National Police Life Saving Championships in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
Chief Constable Sean Price, said: "I was pleased that the team performed so well and commend them greatly for their fitness and dedication." The contest gave 172 police officers from 22 forces a chance to demonstrate their life-saving abilities.
Competitors had to demonstrate how they would administer first aid and aftercare to someone who had stopped breathing. Officers then had to coil and throw a rope 12.5 metres to rescue a team member. They also had to swim 50 metres to a casualty followed by an additional 50-metre swim towing the person to safety. Their final test was an open water incident.
