AN action plan is being implemented at a Teesside school following a Government inspection.
Teachers have welcomed the Government Ofsted inspection report at The Lakes Primary School in Redcar which praises the school's "family atmosphere".
The inspectors acknowledge there have been improvements in English, maths and science at the school but stress that further progress must be made to bring results in line with the national average.
The report said: "This is a good school that is successful in creating an environment in which pupils feel secure and are keen to learn.
"Pupils develop positive attitudes to learning and behave well. They respond well to the trust and respect they are shown. For example, older pupils are 'buddies' and they give assistance to any pupil requiring help.
"All pupils made good progress and learn effectively."
The inspectors recommend an action plan, already being implemented, to improve results in English, maths and science.
They said: "There are signs of improvement. The school has set challenging targets and, because of the commitment of all staff, is likely to achieve them."
Headteacher Pamela Delzenne, who retires at the end of the summer term and will be succeeded by deputy head Chris Evans, said: "We are absolutely delighted with our report. The recognition from Ofsted has endorsed the hard work of all staff for the community of Lakes School."
Steve Kay, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's lead councillor for education, said: "This is another positive Ofsted for one of our schools."
