FERRYHILL Town Council is to produce a newsletter four times a year for local people.

The council is hoping to demonstrate it is communicating effectively and actively engaging with the community to help it qualify for quality status.

Projects assistant Anne Kirkpatrick said: "Information can be conveyed to the community such as forthcoming events and council meetings, a views or letters section, recent achievements and projects, useful telephone numbers and opening times.

"It is also an ideal opportunity to insert a questionnaire regarding the projects at Dean Bank Park, the football academy and other facilities."

Possible names for the newsletter include Ferryhill Town Talk, Ferryhill Town Crier and Ferryhill Town News, but other suggestions are welcome.

The intention is to produce 6,000 copies per issue, with the first due in August.

It would also be available at the town hall and library, schools, the housing office, shops and doctors' and dentists' surgeries.
