A CARERS centre granted the Disability Symbol was presented with the award yesterday.
Staff at the Hambleton and Richmondshire Carers Centre chose to mark the occasion during Carers Week, with a coffee morning in their new premises in Northallerton's High Street.
The symbol, which can be used on all of the centre's documents, recognises success helping disabled people gain experience in the workplace.
The Jobcentre Plus Disability Service team manager, Alison Rawcliffe, said: "I am delighted the Centre has taken a positive step in its commitment towards disabled employees.
"Employers need to make sure they find the right person for the job and it makes sense to consider the potential of all applicants, whether disabled or not - otherwise they risk losing out."
The coffee morning was also attended by a group of carers who were celebrating the successful completion of their European Computer Driving Licence qualification after attending a series of classes.
