GUNNERS from two regiments which saw action in the Gulf earlier this year were among troops chosen to fire a 21-gun salute to mark the Queen's birthday.
A detachment from 40 Regiment, Royal Artillery, at Alanbrooke Barracks at Topcliffe, and a detachment from 5 Regiment of Marne Barracks, Catterick, joined others from 22 Regiment in York's Museum Gardens on Saturday.
The Commander of the York Garrison, Brigadier D A H Shaw, hosted the ceremony, while Air Vice Marshall A F C Hunter, who is chairman of the Reserve Forces Cadet Association in the north of England, took the salute and made an inspection.
Music was provided by the Royal Signals Northern Band.
