TWO men have admitted carrying out an unprovoked attack outside a town centre nightspot.
George Matthew Daniel and Lawrence Bainbridge attacked George Edward Watson as they left the Mardi Gras nightclub, in Gladstone Street, Darlington.
Mr Watson suffered a broken wrist plus scratches and bruising to his face after being kicked several times during the attack, which happened in May last year.
Daniel, 34, of Bedford Street, and Bainbridge, 30, of Smithfield Road, both Darlington, had previously denied inflicting grievous bodily harm.
The case was listed for a trial which was due to start at Durham Crown Court yesterday.
But when they came before the court, their barristers asked for the charge to be put again to both men, and each offered guilty pleas.
Daniel also admitted a separate charge of possession of three tablets of the class A drug, Ecstasy, at a previous hearing.
Karen Smoult-Hawtree, for Daniel, and Gillian Batts, for Bainbridge, said both men had previous convictions but neither had served a prison sentence.
Judge John Milford adjourned sentence for the preparation of pre-sentence reports on both men.
