A CHURCH service celebrating older people takes place this weekend.
St Cuthbert's Church, in Church Bank, Shotley Bridge, near Consett, will hold a thanksgiving service for older people on Sunday, at 3.30pm.
Rosie Junemann, organiser of the service, said: "It's definitely not a service exclusively for older people to attend. Rather, it is for people of all ages so that they can give thanks for the older people among us - grandparents, elderly relatives, or those among us who are older and have no dependants."
It is the third in a series of innovative summer church services St Cuthbert's has held in recent years, following a celebration of marriage and a service of thanksgiving for children.
It is expected to last about forty-five minutes, and refreshments will follow in the church hall.
Anyone with interesting photographs or mementoes of older people in their family is encouraged to contact the vicar, the Reverend Martin Jackson, on (01207) 503019.
Anyone seeking further details of the service can ring the same number.
