AN action-packed festival of walking and cycling enthusiasts has been organised in east Cleveland for the coming weekend.
The Walking and Cycling Festival runs from Friday to Sunday and has walks, bike rides and even a teddy bears picnic.
Starting with a free welcome buffet at the Fox and Hounds, Slapeworth, on Friday, from 6.30pm there is a full programme of events on Saturday and Sunday. All the walks and rides will be guided and have their own theme.
They will be led by representatives from organisations including the Long Distance Walkers Association, the National Trust, Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and the Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum at Skinningrove.
The programme is:
Saturday, June 21: Guided walks - A seven-mile walk from Lingfield Farm Countryside Centre, Middlesbrough, to Flatts Lane Country Park, Normanby.
A ten-mile circular ramble around Guisborough Woods, Roseberry Topping and Great Ayton Moor.
A 20-mile circular trek around Guisborough, Wilton, Lazenby Bank and Eston Nab.
Guided bike rides - A free "cycle surgery" on bike maintenance and safety.
A two-mile ride for five to seven-year-olds to a teddy bears picnic at Guisborough Forest.
A four-mile woodland ride for over tens around Guisborough and the woods.
Sunday, June 22: Guided walks - A five-mile walk to the Mining Museum.
An eight-mile wildlife wander around Saltburn. An 18-mile walk from Guisborough to Staithes.
Guided bike rides - An 18-mile ride around Commondale and Roseberry Topping.
