A NORTH Yorkshire village, which has been fighting a number of bids for a waste transfer station, seems due to discover its fate next month.
Yorwaste claims it needs a new operation to replace the facilities lost when the Scorton landfill site closes.
At the moment, Yorwaste is taking Richmondshire District Council to an appeal after it refused the firm permission to use an industrial unit on Bridge Road, in Brompton-on-Swale, and a date has been set for a hearing in December.
The company has also submitted similar applications for a landfill site on the edge of Brompton-on-Swale and another at the Tancred quarry, near Scorton.
Both the latter bids will be debated when North Yorkshire County Council planning chiefs meet on July 29.
However, Yorwaste has already indicated it is prepared to drop the appeal and the application for the Brompton-on-Swale landfill site if the county council can be persuaded to support the application for Tancred quarry.
