A PENSIONER was left badly shaken after she was mugged. The woman in her mid-60s was on her way home from a post office in The Avenue, Seaham, when the incident happened, at about 9.15am on Monday. She was walking along Laurel Avenue when she was approached by a man, who pushed her in the back and grabbed her purse. He ran off along Frank Avenue, leaving the woman badly shaken. The man is described as white, in his late 20s, 5ft 10ins, of muscular build, with short, cropped fair hair, and a round face. He was wearing dark trousers and a dark jacket. SCHOOL damaged: Shield Row Primary School, in Stanley, has been targeted by vandals for the fifth time this term. Youths smashed a window at the back of the building overnight on Wednesday, June 11. Anyone with information is asked to contact Stanley police on (01207) 232144.
SCOOTER CHASE: Two youths seen riding a scooter have escaped after a police chase. Officers saw the teenagers riding the silver scooter in the Annfield Plain area, near Stanley. They approached the pair, at which point one boy ran off. The other escaped on the scooter. Officers described one of the boys as about 15 years old, with short, dark hair. NURSERIES TARGETED: Burglars have struck twice at Allensford Nurseries, near Rowlands Gill, Gateshead. On Monday night, they broke in and stole a set of ladders. The previous night they took a large quantity of fertiliser. Anyone with information is asked to contact (01207) 504204.
CENTRE VANDALS: Vandals are continuing to damage to the Enterprise Centre in The Bye, The Grove, Consett. In the latest incident, youths ripped up fence posts and scattered rubbish over the centre gardens.
