AS a church centre for the future takes shape on Teesside, a vicar is calling for a nostalgic look at the past.
The £760,0000 needed to build a community centre next to North Ormesby's Holy Trinity Church was raised in only seven months.
The Right Reverend Robert Ladds, Bishop of Whitby, was joined by Acharya Prem Sharma, a Hindu priest, in blessing the project when the first turf was cut.
Now, as the project nears completion, Holy Trinity vicar, the Reverend Graham Usher plans a thanksgiving weekend, from July 11 to 13.
As well as a full programme of entertainment, Mr Usher, chairman of the fundraising committee for the Trinity Centre, is urging people who have a story to tell about North Ormesby, or who had connections with the area, to contact him.
One of those is Norman Jones, who was the caretaker at the old hall in the 1930s.
Saturday afternoon will feature an old-time music hall concert with a selection of 1940s musical hits and war-time songs.
