GRAEME Lee last night bid farewell to Hartlepool United - and insisted a reunion with his former boss was an opportunity he couldn't turn down.

Lee and Paul Smith had been expected to move to Hillsborough after rejecting new deals at Victoria Park and Sheffield Wednesday boss Chris Turner has made it a triple swoop when he announced ex-Pool fitness coach Nick Ward was moving to South Yorkshire.

On the day Pool unveiled their new home kit - white shirts with a thin blue pinstripe - Turner confirmed his two former stars were making the move south.

When the fixtures are released today, Pool's games with their former favourites will be the first supporters look for and Lee, who leaves after 252 appearances, admitted: "When I first found out Chris was interested in me, I thought 'what a club that would be to play for' and that's no disrespect to Hartlepool.

"I worked with Chris and Colin West for three years and my game improved a lot in that time. I am really excited about moving to Hillsborough. It's a massive step up for me and playing for a club like Sheffield Wednesday can only improve your profile.

Skipper Micky Barron and striker Adam Boyd yesterday modelled the new strip, which will be available from the club shop early next month at a price yet to be announced.

Boyd said: "It's very white and we had success last season in a strip whiter than some of our others - now we have to continue that success.

"It was a massive shock when Mike Newell left. I was on holiday in Portugal when I heard and I couldn't believe it.

"Now the chairman is looking for a new manager and the players really don't know who it might be. It's not my decision, but I think we need someone who has played at or managed in Division Two.

"A lot of our lads haven't played in that league before and it will all be new to us.''

Former Middlesbrough and Bolton boss Colin Todd can be ruled out of contention after one of his representatives criticised the club this week for not giving his man an interview.

* Huddersfield's future is assured following a series of successful meetings with creditors and shareholders.

The Third Division club are expected to come out of administration before the end of the month, paving the way for owners Terry Fisher and Ken Davy to announce a new manager.

In a series of meetings yesterday, Town's creditors and shareholders voted in favour of the Company Voluntary Arrangement.
