PUPILS at a Darlington school are hoping their number comes up on the National Lottery after some research.
Year nine pupils at Hurworth Comprehensive School took part in statistics-based workshops with a lecturer and students from Sunderland University.
Pupils carried out an investigation using the Lottery website to find out how successful various numbers had been in the draws.
They examined the use of birth dates and how often numbers under 31 came up. They discovered that a frequency of low numbers meant more winners.
The school, which becomes a specialist maths and computing centre in September, hopes that a similar event will take place every year.
