WHEELCHAIR users in Darlington have been testing taxis designed to help disabled people travel in comfort.
The vehicles are being tested by members of Darlington Association on Disability (Dad) for Station Taxis, which wants to include more wheelchair-friendly cars in its fleet.
Station Taxis director Steve Leonard said: "At the moment we have got a van which we use for wheelchair users, but we have been told by Dad that lots of people do not like getting into it.
"We are trying to accommodate all the disabled people in Darlington and find a vehicle they like and feel happy with. When they choose one we will buy it."
