ONLY a few tickets remain to see music legends Jools Holland and Status Quo who will be playing in one of the region's forests this weekend.

Thousands of fans are expected to travel to the Adderstone area of Dalby forest, near Pickering, North Yorkshire, for the two open-air concerts.

Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Band will open the concert on Saturday night, with Status Quo, fresh from their tour of Australia appearing on Sunday.

The venue for the concerts - surrounded by 8,600 acres of forest - has been organised by the Forestry Commission and is part of the Music In The Forest tour.

Tickets, priced at £24 (Jools Holland) and £26 (Status Quo), are available by calling (01845) 814612. Limited tickets will be available on both nights. For more details, contact (01751) 460295.

l The long-awaited follow-up to an open-air rock concert last summer has been announced by the organisers.

Rock in the Quarry at the old workings next to the A1 near Barton, North Yorkshire, last July, attracted about 200 music lovers.

Following on from its success, another concert has been planned at Forcett Park, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, on Saturday, July 19.

This time, plans are more ambitious and the music is aimed at a broader audience, including jazz, big band and blues, as well as modern material.

A 45-minute free champagne bar replaces the burger stalls while the programme also includes an air display, hot-air balloons and a fireworks finale at about 1am.

The first Forcett Festival will be raising money for Cheshire Homes, Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Ripon Community Hospital Palliative Care Unit - the latter in memory of local orthodontic surgeon and racing driver Mike Ryan. Tickets cost from £20.
