A PRIMARY school became an art gallery when children had their work displayed professionally.

Pictures by children at Bullion Lane Primary School, in Chester-le-Street, were professionally framed and hung in a temporary gallery in the school hall.

Pupils from across the year groups created a series of paintings and then selected the best piece to be included in the art exhibition.

Children in the school's nursery also took part, creating collages for the exhibition.

The paintings were framed by Images Art Gallery, in Rowlands Gill and parents were invited to the viewing.

The pictures were on sale for £5, with the money raised added to the school's art fund.

Teacher Catherine Horne said: "Images took them away and put them in frames and then brought them back again and put them in the hall, which has been decorated with flowers.

"We have also picked one from each year to go outside the head's office for a permanent exhibition."
