A kickboxer is hoping to win a national title when he fights next week.
Wesley Paul Fagan, 21, of Dipton, near Consett, will take on Michael Johnson, of Sunderland, on Wednesday.
The victor will be crowned the European Kickboxing Commission's British super middle-weight champion. The title became vacant following the retirement of the holder.
Mr Fagan, who is the UK's top fighter at his weight, has been training at the Masac gym, in Annfield Plain, near Stanley, with trainer Goff Bates.
The contest will take place in Stanley Central Working Men's Club. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets are £10 for adults and £7 for children. They are available at the door.
