THE winners have been announced in a series of contests arranged to encourage people over 50 to stay active.
Each summer, Darlington Active Independent and Staying Young (Daisy) organises events for the over-50s in the town.
The events are based at sheltered accommodation and warden schemes, but are open to people across Darlington.
This week an art competition was held at Branksome Hall Drive and a flower arranging contest took place at Richard Court.
Other events include musical evenings, a quiz and a domino competition. There are also plans for an evening of music at Havelock Street, a whist drive at Dalkeith House and a darts competition at King William Street.

Silk flower arrangement - Ann Williams; runner-up Ada Wilson. Silk flower buttonhole - Sheila Thurston; runner-up Ada Wilson. Fresh flower buttonhole - Brenda Walker; runner-up Joyce Robinson. Quiz - Richard Court team. Domino competition - Jean Wade; runner-up Elizabeth Howe.
