ATHLETIC youngsters from one of the county's leading prep schools are celebrating after winning a major trophy and breaking several records.
The team of eight, from Queen Mary's School, near Thirsk, won the North-East Prep School Athletic Championships for the second year in succession.
The girls, captained by 13-year-old Alice Appleyard, of Easingwold, competed against schools from across the region during the competition at Clairville Stadium, in Middlesbrough.
The relay team broke the competition's 100 metre record and 13-year-old Rebecca Newton, of Helperby, broke the 70 metre hurdles record
