SUNDERLAND football fans still in the doldrums after the team's relegation can lift their spirits at a sportsman's dinner next month.
The function, a night of red and white nostalgia, features guest appearances by an array of former Sunderland stars, including 1980s and 1990s goalscorer Marco Gabbiadini.
Former Everton, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United player Duncan McKenzie is the guest speaker, and a comedian will also be on the bill.
The dinner, staged by the Sunderland AFC Supporters' Association, is at the Stadium of Light banqueting suite on Friday, July 4, from 7.30pm.
Members of the association's Chester-le-Street and District branch have tables booked for the event, and tickets are available for interested fans in the area.
Transport is also being organised for the dinner, leaving from and returning to Relton Terrace Workingmen's Club, in Chester-le-Street, County Durham.
Details of ticket and travel arrangements are available from Kevin Atkinson on (07887) 921726.
