AN alleged sex attacker shouted to a passing cyclist that his victim was fine moments after he had abused her.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened in Kirkleatham Lane, Redcar, near Fox Rush Farm, at about 10.30pm on Tuesday.
They are keen to speak to a cyclist who stopped and asked the woman if she was all right.
The woman was believed to be so frightened that she could not answer. The attacker shouted back that she was fine.
A small, blue car, possibly a Corsa, was also seen to drive past the man and woman, and police are anxious to speak to the driver.
The victim, who was left extremely shocked by the attack, was dressed in dark clothing and wore a brown, flat hat.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested and bailed pending further police inquiries.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective Constable Helen Barker on (01642) 302626.
