POLICE have dropped their inquiry into a teenage girl's claims that she was sexually assaulted by two men in a late-night attack.
The 16-year-old had told detectives that she was subjected to the ordeal as she walked home through Darlington last Wednesday.
But The Northern Echo understands that the investigation has ended without charges.
A police spokesman confirmed last night that no further action was being taken.
The girl had given police a description of the men she claimed had attacked her in an alley near the junction of Northgate and Corporation Road, at about 10pm.
